Senior Exploration Geologist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist to lead field and desk‑based petroleum geology activities across multiple basins. The role combines hands‑on data collection, advanced geological modelling, and real‑time wellsite supervision to drive successful exploration outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field outcrop surveys, measure stratigraphic sections, and collect rock, oil‑sand and fossil samples.
• Oversee mud‑logging and coring operations, perform core description, formation correlation and document hydrocarbon shows.
• Evaluate regional tectonics, sedimentary facies, source rocks, reservoirs, seals and traps; execute basin modelling and migration studies to identify exploration plays.
• Produce structural, facies and source‑rock maps, composite stratigraphic columns, and develop well placement and drilling design plans using geological and seismic interpretation software.
• Provide on‑site geological supervision, analyse real‑time gas logging, cuttings and core data, and adjust logging programs as needed.
• Prepare technical exploration reports, estimate contingent and prospective reserves, and support project approval and investment decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Petroleum Geology or a related field.
• Valid International Well Control Certificate and H₂S safety certificate.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant geological experience, preferably in oil & gas exploration.
• Fluent English with full professional proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• Good physical condition and age under 50 years.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mainstream geological evaluation and interpretation software.
• Experience using basin‑modelling tools.
• Well‑control expertise (International Well Control Certificate).
• H₂S safety certification.
