National Project Officer

About the role

The International Labour Organization (ILO) in Iraq is seeking a National Project Officer to support the "Employment Prospects for Socio‑economic Integration of Refugees, IDPs and Host Communities in Iraq" (EPSI) project. Working from Erbil, the officer will contribute to strengthening inclusive employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for refugees, internally displaced persons and vulnerable host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of the EPSI project in coordination with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) and the Kurdistan Region authorities.
• Support policy advocacy, skills‑development and short‑term employment initiatives in partnership with GIZ.
• Monitor project activities, collect data and prepare progress reports for ILO and partners.
• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies and beneficiary groups.
• Contribute to the development of inclusive labour‑market policies and entrepreneurship programmes.

Required profile

• University degree in labour‑market policy, social sciences, development studies or a related field.
• Relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in employment or livelihood programmes.
• Knowledge of the Iraqi labour market and familiarity with the challenges faced by refugees, IDPs and host communities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate with international partners.
