Airfield Lighting Electrician / High Voltage Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Airfield Lighting Electrician/Technician to provide maintenance, repair and operational support for high‑voltage electrical systems at Martyr Brigadier General Ali Flaih Air Base (AFAB) in Balad, Iraq. The role involves working on airfield lighting, illuminated signage, and associated power‑distribution equipment in a demanding aviation environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test, maintain and repair high‑voltage (600 V +) power‑controlling equipment, transformers, switchboards, circuit breakers and related distribution lines.
• Maintain airfield lighting fixtures, rotating beacons, directional markings and emergency lighting systems, including battery banks and chargers.
• Perform cable splicing for 11 kV lines and troubleshoot faults using schematics, blueprints and testing instruments.
• Modify and adapt foreign‑made electrical components to meet local installation requirements.
• Document work, interpret technical data and coordinate with planners and supply personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience with high‑voltage electrical systems and airfield lighting equipment.
• Ability to read and work from electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with safety standards for voltages above 600 V.
• Willingness to work onsite at a military air base in a remote location.
