Qualitative Researcher – Mixed Methods Study

About the role

The Sustainable Research and Development Center is looking for an experienced Qualitative Researcher to join a mixed‑methods assignment that examines migration dynamics, decision‑making, irregular migration, information needs and related contextual factors in Iraq. The role focuses on the qualitative component that will complement a large quantitative survey and stakeholder mapping exercise.

Key responsibilities

• Review and adapt qualitative interview guidelines and research objectives.
• Conduct high‑quality in‑depth interviews with experts, NGOs, community actors and Iraqi returnees in Baghdad and Basra.
• Accurately document respondents’ perspectives and identify emerging themes.
• Support the coding, analysis and synthesis of qualitative data.
• Contribute to the preparation of analytical reports and presentation materials.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting key‑informant interviews and qualitative research in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Familiarity with migration‑related topics and the Iraqi socio‑political environment.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to ethical standards for data collection.
