Project Lead

About the role

Wood is seeking a Project Lead to join its team in Kirkuk, Iraq, working on a rotational schedule of six weeks on‑site followed by two weeks off. The role supports the Project Lead in delivering major projects within the Operation Center, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Lead in managing project scope, schedule, cost and risk across a portfolio of major projects.
• Stand in for the Project Lead when required, providing certainty to management.
• Oversee the Operation Center, coordinating related functions and resources for project implementation.
• Ensure delivery to agreed specifications, manage changes, and adhere to reporting and governance processes.
• Maintain commercial and financial accountability, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and cost recovery.
• Develop and maintain the project execution plan, including scope of work, master schedule, budget, risk register and organizational charts.
• Report progress regularly to senior management and customers, proactively addressing schedule slippage.
• Lead a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring competence and compliance with HSSE and quality standards.
• Identify and pursue innovation opportunities such as digitalisation and high‑value engineering.

Required profile

• Degree qualified, preferably with a recognised project management association.
• Proven experience in managing large‑scale projects, preferably in the construction or industrial sector.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across multiple sites.
• Excellent risk identification and mitigation capabilities.
• Commitment to HSSE leadership and quality management.
