Power Generation Supervisor

About the role

The Power Generation Supervisor oversees the power generation shop and its personnel, ensuring safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and construction activities at the Balad site in Iraq.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and train skilled, semi‑skilled and apprentice staff in installation, operation, removal, maintenance and repair of power generation equipment.
• Review service and work orders, guarantee timely completion, proper staffing and adherence to quality standards.
• Estimate labor hours, materials, parts and supplies; maintain a comprehensive database of all power generation activities.
• Schedule and coordinate generator switching and shutdowns with trades and government personnel.
• Perform load calculations to size generators for various facilities and conduct extended load tests.
• Collaborate with other trade supervisors to ensure cooperative work environments.
• Manage the Power Generation department and perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.
• Preferred graduate of an accredited diesel school and/or US military training in power generation, diesel, or electrical fields.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience repairing and replacing diesel/mechanical engines and generators.
• Ability to work in extreme desert conditions with temperatures up to 130 °F.

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair and generator maintenance.
• Load testing and electrical calculations (voltage, amperage, frequency, power‑factor analysis).
• AC alternator maintenance and electronic control system troubleshooting.
• Electrical wiring and power generation equipment safety procedures.
