Mechanic – Steam and Gas

About the role

GE Vernova is seeking a Mechanic specialized in steam and gas equipment to join its FieldCore team on a six‑month fixed‑term contract starting October 2026. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy rotating machinery used in power‑generation applications.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical documents to plan work.
• Install, dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on power tools, hand tools and training equipment.
• Move and align large equipment with hoists, cranes, chain falls, trucks and precision alignment devices.
• Conduct machining and welding operations to fabricate parts for lab and shop training equipment.
• Inspect materials and components using micrometers, calipers, protractors, torque wrenches and laser alignment tools.
• Manage shipping, receiving, inventory and tool control for major components.
• Prepare equipment specifications and parts lists for procurement.

Required profile

• Experience working with heavy rotating machinery in industrial or power‑generation settings.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and collaborate with supervisors, EHS personnel and operations teams.
• Strong attention to detail for inspections and alignment tasks.
