IB DP English Teacher (HL & SL) – Baghdad

About the role

We are seeking an experienced International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme English teacher to join an IB school in Baghdad. The successful candidate will deliver both Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) English instruction, guiding students through the full two‑year Diploma journey.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver English lessons aligned with the IB DP framework.
• Teach both HL and SL English courses.
• Prepare students for IB assessments, coursework, and examinations.
• Support analytical writing, literary interpretation, and critical thinking development.
• Plan and deliver inquiry‑based, engaging lessons.
• Assess and track student progress in line with IB standards.
• Provide Extended Essay guidance when required.
• Maintain a structured, professional, and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the IB pathway.
• Uphold safeguarding and professional standards at all times.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in English or a related subject.
• Valid teaching qualification or licence.
• Minimum three years’ IB DP English teaching experience.
• Experience teaching both HL and SL and having graduated at least three IB DP cohorts.
• Minimum HL and SL scores of 6.
• Minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of IB assessment criteria.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Previous international teaching experience preferred.
