Head of Sports – International School (Erbil)

About the role

We are looking for an inspiring Head of Sports to lead the sports department of a British‑style international school in Erbil, Iraq. Starting in August 2026, you will shape a comprehensive programme that encourages teamwork, resilience and a love of physical activity across all year groups.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve the school’s sports curriculum and extracurricular activities.
• Mentor, support and develop PE teachers and coaches, fostering professional growth.
• Organise inter‑school competitions, events and partnerships to showcase student achievement.
• Manage resources, budgets and facilities related to sport and physical education.
• Promote a healthy, active lifestyle among students, staff and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Sport or Physical Education (Masters preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar senior sports role within a British‑curriculum school.
• Proven track record of managing sports programmes and leading staff.
• Passion for student development, character building and fostering excellence.
