Head of Mobility Pathways and Inclusion

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior leader to head its Mobility Pathways and Inclusion (MPI) portfolio in Baghdad. The role provides strategic direction and operational oversight across the migration continuum, ensuring humane and orderly migration solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead coordination and management of IOM’s migration activities, including policy development and implementation.
• Oversee thematic areas such as migrant protection, counter‑trafficking, assisted voluntary return and reintegration (AVRR), mental health and psychosocial support.
• Guide immigration and border governance initiatives, including the Family Assistance Programme (FAP) and labour migration strategies.
• Direct humanitarian protection efforts, focusing on gender‑based violence prevention, response, and disability inclusion.
• Represent IOM in high‑level stakeholder engagements with governments, UN agencies, NGOs and private sector partners.
• Ensure compliance with IOM’s operational standards, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams in migration, humanitarian or UN/IGO contexts.
• Deep knowledge of migration governance, protection frameworks, and related policy environments.
• Proven ability to work with diverse governmental, intergovernmental and civil‑society partners.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning and decision‑making capabilities.
• Commitment to inclusive, gender‑sensitive and disability‑aware programming.
