Field Engineering Manager (Expat)

About the role

The Field Engineering Manager will lead the Field Engineering function supporting Operations & Maintenance across mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines in Iraq. This senior position requires hands‑on leadership, safety focus and technical expertise to ensure reliable, high‑performance asset operation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering support for O&M activities, shutdowns, start‑ups and major maintenance campaigns.
• Act as the focal point between Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, Projects and Technical Authorities to ensure safe and efficient facility operation.
• Promote safe work practices, participate in safety walks, risk assessments, permit‑to‑work and incident investigations.
• Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, performance improvement, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Review and approve engineering studies, calculations, modifications and Management of Change (MOC) documentation.
• Monitor equipment reliability trends, drive continuous improvement and cost optimisation.
• Support asset integrity programs, budgeting, OPEX and CAPEX planning, and mentor engineering personnel.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas experience with significant O&M exposure.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory or management role within engineering or maintenance.
• Strong understanding of Asset Integrity Management, MOC, RCA and risk assessment processes.
• Proven experience supporting brownfield operating facilities and working with international operators or EPC contractors.
• Excellent communication, presentation and report‑writing skills in English; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation engineering knowledge.
• Familiarity with international standards such as API, ASME, IEC and ISO.
• Experience with CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo or equivalent).
• Proficiency in preventive, predictive and condition‑based maintenance programmes.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
