F-16 Flightline Engine Mechanic – Iraq

About the role

The F-16 Flightline Engine Mechanic will oversee and train host‑nation personnel on the inspection, maintenance, and repair of F‑16 aircraft engines. Working on an austere OCONUS flight‑line environment in Iraq, the role ensures engine performance, reliability, and safety meet strict military standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non‑routine inspections of F‑16 engines, identifying issues and required actions.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot, remove, and install engine components.
• Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment to assess engine condition and performance.
• Repair or replace worn components such as turbine blades, bearings, and seals in accordance with technical specifications.
• Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance logs and report findings.
• Enforce safety protocols and adhere to technical manuals during all procedures.
• Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to resolve complex mechanical issues.
• Stay current on F‑16 engine technologies through ongoing training.
• Support pre‑ and post‑flight engine checks and address last‑minute maintenance needs.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of turbine engines, specifically Pratt & Whitney or General Electric models used on F‑16 aircraft.
• Proven ability to train and instruct host‑nation personnel.
• Physical capability to lift items >50 lb and perform frequent standing, walking, squatting, and bending.
• Willingness to work in a limited‑hangar, austere flight‑line environment.
