Corporate Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a Corporate Legal Counsel with deep expertise in Iraqi banking law and Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) regulations to support our fast‑growing fintech business. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance, ensure regulatory compliance, draft and negotiate contracts, and help shape corporate governance in a dynamic financial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with CBI regulations, banking laws, AML and data‑protection requirements.
• Monitor legislative updates and interpret their impact on the company’s operations.
• Provide legal advice on licensing, payment services, digital banking and fintech regulatory matters.
• Engage with regulatory authorities to obtain approvals and resolve compliance issues.
• Draft, review and negotiate agreements related to banking operations, fintech partnerships and service contracts.
• Develop and maintain standard legal templates for contracts, NDAs and regulatory filings.
• Support corporate governance by aligning internal policies with legal frameworks.
• Assist internal teams with KYC, AML and financial security protocols.
• Handle legal disputes, regulatory inquiries and banking‑related proceedings.
• Conduct internal training on banking compliance and legal risk management.

Required profile

• LL.B. required; LL.M. preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in Iraq.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate, banking or fintech law.
• Strong knowledge of CBI regulations, Iraqi banking statutes and fintech compliance.
• Proven experience interacting with CBI and other regulatory bodies.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, both written and spoken.
