Assistant Manager - Mechanical

About the role

Accor is looking for a detail-oriented and decisive Assistant Manager - Mechanical to join its team in Baghdad, Iraq. The role supports the Mechanical Operations Manager in overseeing the maintenance, repair and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment, combining technical expertise with leadership to ensure operational efficiency, safety compliance and team performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily mechanical maintenance and repair activities, ensuring safe and efficient completion
• Help plan and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life
• Carry out technical inspections and diagnostics of mechanical systems and recommend solutions
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical technicians, giving guidance, performance feedback and development opportunities
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements and company standards
• Prepare and maintain documentation, work orders, maintenance logs and performance reports
• Manage inventory of parts, tools and supplies, optimize stock levels and vendor relationships
• Analyze equipment performance data and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems
• Collaborate with other departments on facility operations and take part in equipment procurement and technology evaluation

Required profile

• 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical operations, maintenance or equipment management
• 1-2 years of supervisory or assistant management experience in a mechanical or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC equipment and industrial machinery
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop technical teams
• Good organization, time management and prioritization skills
• Solid understanding of safety standards, regulations and compliance
• Written and verbal English

• Maintenance management software and Microsoft Office
• Reading technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals
• Preferred: preventive maintenance planning, CAD or mechanical design tools, budget management, training and onboarding experience
