Social Behaviour Change Officer – UN Volunteer Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is seeking a National UN Volunteer Specialist to support its Social Behaviour Change (SBC) function in Iraq. The volunteer will provide technical assistance for planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on SBC activities that aim to improve the well‑being of children and young people in both development and emergency settings.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and use research, data and evidence to design, measure and monitor SBC programmes.
• Collect, collate, analyse and summarise data on social and behavioural issues to inform evidence‑based strategies.
• Prepare briefing notes, progress reports and knowledge‑sharing products for internal and external audiences.
• Support data collection, tracking, monitoring and reporting of SBC results against the work plan.
• Assist in capacity‑building activities for staff and partners on SBC methodologies.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in social sciences, public health, communication or a related field.
• Experience working on behaviour‑change programmes in development or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.
