About the role
The Field Communication Officer will support EMERGENCY’s communication and media activities in Iraq, producing content and managing press relations for the Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration Centre in Sulaymaniyah. The role reports to the Rehab Director locally and to the Communication Team in Milan.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and produce stories, testimonies, photos, and videos from patients and staff for fundraising and awareness campaigns.
- Draft press releases, organize press events, and maintain a database of journalists and media contacts.
- Manage local online channels, create and moderate content, and support the editorial team with information gathering.
- Monitor local and national media, provide regular press reviews, and act as spokesperson when required.
Required profile
- University degree in Media or Journalism.
- Minimum 3 years of continuous experience in communication or journalism.
- Fluent in English, Kurdish and Arabic.
- Availability to travel within Iraq and work on‑site in Sulaymaniyah.
Required skills
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to operate DSLR, mirrorless cameras and Handy Cam equipment.
- Photo and video editing using Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere (or equivalents).
- Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X.com).
