Senior Operations Geologist

About the role

Crescent Petroleum is launching a multi‑well drilling campaign in Kurdistan, Iraq and seeks a Senior Operations Geologist to lead geological support for exploration, appraisal and development wells. The role ensures alignment with HSSE standards, provides real‑time drilling guidance and drives safe, efficient, cost‑effective well execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geological operations for exploration, appraisal and development wells, delivering safe and efficient well objectives.
• Provide geological input to well planning, BOD, data acquisition, geohazard assessments and operational procedures.
• Deliver real‑time support during drilling, including geosteering, formation evaluation and operational decision‑making.
• Identify, assess and mitigate geological risks and drilling‑related geohazards.
• Monitor drilling and geological data, ensure quality control and timely recommendations.
• Oversee formation evaluation activities such as mud logging, wireline logging, LWD, coring, pressure testing and sample acquisition.
• Manage Wellsite Geologists, Junior Operations Geologists and service providers, maintaining high safety and performance standards.
• Prepare and review operational geology reports, drive continuous improvement and champion HSSE excellence.

Required profile

• BSc in Geology, Geosciences, Earth Sciences or related field; MSc preferred.
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience, including 10+ years in operational geology supporting drilling.
• Proven experience in well planning, geological operations, real‑time drilling support and formation evaluation.
• Experience supervising Wellsite Geologists and geological service providers.
• Professional certification/accreditation is an advantage.
