Protection Officer

About the role

The Protection Officer will lead protection activities for vulnerable children, ensuring their safety and participation within community‑based programmes. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the officer will coordinate case management, training, and advocacy efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate protection activities and communicate with internal departments and external agencies.
• Consult technical advisers on protection issues and seek support as needed.
• Collaborate with the MEAL team to monitor and evaluate protection interventions.
• Assist P&C in recruiting and supervising casual field staff.
• Work with project coordinators, finance and procurement teams to ensure timely procurement and budgeting.
• Supervise case planning, conferences, and closures, and represent the organisation at inter‑agency protection meetings.
• Develop and implement activity and procurement plans, monitoring progress against quality standards.
• Provide training to community mobilisers, casual staff and beneficiaries on protection and education topics.
• Facilitate community feedback mechanisms and strengthen child/youth participation.
• Identify, report and respond to child protection threats at the community level.
• Support budget management and integrate GESI principles across activities.

Required profile

• Experience in protection or child‑protection programmes within humanitarian settings.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including technical advisers, MEAL, finance and procurement teams.
• Strong communication skills for training, community engagement and inter‑agency representation.
• Knowledge of recruitment, supervision of casual staff, and case management processes.
• Commitment to gender equality, social inclusion and child participation.
