National Programme Officer – Prevention of Violent Extremism

About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Programme Officer to support the implementation of Iraq’s National Strategy to Combat Violent Extremism. Based in Erbil, the officer will work closely with the Government of Iraq, local authorities, civil society organisations and communities to pilot the strategy in six locations.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse drivers, motivations and vulnerabilities that contribute to violent extremism in target areas.
- Support the Government of Iraq’s Implementation Committee in developing and rolling out Plans of Action aligned with the national strategy.
- Coordinate with local and regional authorities, CSOs, and community stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.
- Facilitate capacity‑building activities for partners and monitor progress against agreed indicators.
- Prepare reports, documentation and recommendations for senior management and government partners.
