Project Engineer (Arabic Speaking) - Kirkuk

About the role

Wood is recruiting a Project Engineer (Local National, Arabic speaker) for its Iraq business unit, which supports a portfolio of construction-based minor EPC and maintenance repair order projects. The role is full-time and on-site in Kirkuk, Iraq, with travel required, and reports to the Senior Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small group of multi-discipline construction engineers and subcontractors to deliver the full lifecycle of minor EPC and maintenance projects under the Project Management Framework
• Manage and coordinate local supply chain partners and act as the client's main focal point for allocated projects from kick-off to close-out
• Define project execution strategies, apply change control, monitor portfolio performance and maintain cost awareness
• Own project reporting, manage critical issues, run proactive risk management and prepare Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events
• Estimate project scope at each stage, ensure projects are delivered safely, to budget and schedule, and provide HSE leadership
• Hold weekly progress and project management meetings, take part in monthly project reviews and report on projects within the portfolio

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience managing multi-discipline construction-focused minor EPC and maintenance projects
• Experience with project control mechanisms, commercial and technical risk assessments and risk management processes
• Strong communication and delegation skills
