Project Accountant

About the role

Shahan is seeking a detail‑oriented Project Accountant to support finance and accounting activities for a project based in Erbil. The role ensures accurate processing, documentation, and reporting of project‑related payments, salaries, vendor and contractor disbursements, as well as cash received from branches or banks.

Key responsibilities

• Process and document approved project payments, salary payments, vendor payments, contractor payments, and other disbursements.
• Receive, count, record, and hand over cash received from other branches, banks, or authorized representatives.
• Maintain clear filing and payment records, including vouchers, invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with HR, procurement, project teams, branch representatives, suppliers, contractors, and the accounting department to ensure timely payments.
• Follow approval procedures, maintain confidentiality, and uphold internal controls during payment cycles and salary periods.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance support, cash handling, or payments.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle confidential financial information.
• Professional appearance and respectful communication style.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to use basic accounting systems and familiarity with accounting software.
