Production Support Engineer / Production Technician

About the role

Halliburton is hiring a Production Support Engineer (also called Production Technician) in Basra, Iraq, under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor. The role covers field, office and laboratory work supporting oil and gas production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Fieldwork: assist geologists and engineers with electronic, sonic or nuclear measuring instruments used to assess oil and gas potential; gather and analyze well and production data; help with well optimization and well failure analysis; prepare monthly performance reports for each producing well.
• Office work: report KPIs for production, new completions, recompletions and workovers; prepare weekly production reports, up/down reports, weekly activity reports and flowback reports for new completions and recompletions.
• Laboratory work: collect formation, mud and soil samples and prepare them for analysis; run scientific tests on samples to determine content and characteristics; record test data and compile information from reports, computer databases and other sources; record well temperatures, pressures, flow rates and watercut and compare actual productivity to estimates.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; undergraduate degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in production operations, including oil and gas operations.
• Minimum qualifications can be obtained through technical schools or equivalent related experience.

Required skills

• Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook (preferable).

Compensation is described as competitive and commensurate with experience. The position is full time, and candidates with qualifications exceeding the minimum requirements may be considered for higher-level roles such as Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
