Geophysics Advisor - Oil & Gas Field Development

About the role

Halliburton is hiring a Geophysics Advisor for an oil and gas asset in Basra, Iraq, under an Integrated Asset Management (IAM) contract. The advisor delivers expert geophysical interpretation, seismic reservoir characterization and subsurface imaging support, working under the direction of the Subsurface Technical Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply advanced development geophysical techniques for large, challenging field development projects.
• Integrate seismic, geological and engineering data to support field development planning and reduce subsurface uncertainty.
• Lead seismic interpretation (faults, horizons, stratigraphic features) and attribute analysis to define structural and stratigraphic frameworks.
• Conduct seismic inversion, AVO and attribute studies to improve reservoir property prediction and fluid delineation.
• Support time-to-depth conversion, velocity modeling and depth imaging workflows.
• Validate existing interpretations and create new ones, and feed geophysical input into field development plans, well placement and drilling programs.
• Present to and build relationships with senior management and stakeholders, and take part in internal and external reviews.
• Mentor less experienced geoscientists and promote best practices and digital tools.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Geophysics.
• At least 10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production, including development/technical geophysics, static modeling, operations geology or field development planning.
• Field development and reservoir management experience on a producing field (directly or indirectly).
• Extensive experience in clastic and/or carbonate reservoirs; exposure to mature or brownfield assets preferred.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position is full time.
