Production Support Engineer

About the role

KBR's Petroleum Engineering Department is hiring a Production Support Engineer in Basra, reporting to the Programming Team Leader. The engineer works in the production planning section and ensures technical support for well performance, monitors daily production plans, well test plans and daily production allocations, and acts as the focal point between the WRFM and operations departments.

Key responsibilities

• Write well test procedures and instructions, carry out tests and validate data
• Create short-term production plans and targets, and schedule and optimise integrated production systems
• Ensure daily production data is entered accurately into Energy Components and ready for Field Manager approval
• Carry out pro-active production surveillance of wells, facilities and exports, and manage hydrocarbon accounting and production reporting
• Support the startup of hydrocarbon systems and act as first-line support for operations on production data and system performance
• Maintain well bean-up procedures, priorities and production allocation, and deploy new operations technologies
• Take part in WRFM activities and work with government or partner representatives

Required profile

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience with an operator, including daily well management and team management
• Strong technical background in reservoir engineering or a related discipline, and familiarity with reservoir management
• Experience in multi-cultural, multi-nationality teams
• Upper-intermediate English; Arabic is an advantage

• Well production plan, well test plan, hydrocarbon allocation and well optimisation
• Production allocation using Energy Components software
• PE standard software: OEM, PI, PVTSim, Kappa's Sapphire, Eclipse, Petrel RE
• Knowledge of well completion, intervention and rigless activities
• Advanced PI (process book) and Energy Components; Prosper and GAP are an advantage
