T6 Aircraft Mechanic III - Crew Chief

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic III - Crew Chief to provide aircraft maintenance support, management and leadership for a T-6A opportunity at Martyr BG Ali Flaih Air Base (Balad Air Base), Iraq. The role calls for sound judgement based on operational requirements, available resources and options, and working experience across flightline, phase maintenance and Aircrew Life Support Systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to technicians
• Interface with operational customers to develop flying schedules and plan major maintenance events, complete daily and monthly operational reports, document inventory usage and control workflow
• Work with other A&P mechanics and technical representatives to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve complex maintenance problems
• Plan and schedule aircraft utilization and maintenance activities, coordinate with operational customers and assist in maintaining accurate parts inventory
• Supervise aircraft jacking, lifting and towing operations, and supervise aircraft and component inspections, interpreting findings and determining adequate corrective actions
• Troubleshoot aircraft structures, systems, components and related equipment
• Review maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems and historical reports to ensure complete documentation
• Inspect and operate powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment, perform Quality Verification Inspections (QVI) as needed and carry out other qualified duties

Required profile

• Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
• At least 10 years of working knowledge of aircraft maintenance on the T-6 Texan or similar fixed-wing aircraft
• Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations and Air Force technical publications
• Demonstrated leadership ability combined with attention to detail
• Knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Use of test equipment to analyse airframe, engine, flight control, pneumatic, fuel, electrical and electronic systems
• Reading and using aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring diagrams and specifications
• Understanding of engine operation, theory of flight, rigging of flight controls, sheet metal, materials, fuels and oils
