Power Generation Supervisor

About the role

The Power Generation Supervisor will lead the power generation shop in Balad, Iraq, overseeing the operation, maintenance and construction of diesel‑powered generators supporting critical missions. The role combines hands‑on technical work with team leadership to ensure reliable power supply.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, train and mentor skilled, semi‑skilled and apprentice personnel in safe installation, operation, maintenance and repair of power generation equipment.
• Review and manage service and work orders, ensuring timely completion, proper staffing and compliance with quality standards.
• Estimate labor, material, parts and supply requirements and maintain accurate records of inventory and activity.
• Schedule and coordinate generator “switching” and shut‑downs with other trades and government personnel.
• Perform load calculations and size generators appropriately for various facilities.
• Maintain cooperation with other trade supervisors and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Execute additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience repairing and replacing diesel/mechanical engines and generators.
• US military training in power generation, diesel or electrical fields preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited diesel school preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service orders.

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair and replacement.
• Generator and AC alternator maintenance.
• Load testing and load‑calculation procedures.
• Electrical safety and knowledge of voltage, amperage, frequency and power factor.
• Electronic control systems and electrical wiring.
• Use of electrical math formulas for performance verification.
• Inventory management and record‑keeping.
