Operations Controller – Airport Operations

About the role

The Operations Controller leads the shift team at Erbil International Airport, overseeing ramp services, load control, baggage and cargo handling, and customer service. The role ensures safe, on‑time performance in line with service level agreements, regulatory requirements and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and control all departmental activities during the shift, coordinating resources and equipment to meet demand.
• Develop and execute contingency and service‑recovery plans for disruptions such as system outages, weather events or facility closures.
• Monitor flight schedules, align resource plans, and optimise manpower utilisation to control costs.
• Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory and service standards, logging safety events in the corporate Safety Management System.
• Communicate end‑of‑shift summaries, highlighting key issues, resolutions and improvement recommendations.

Required profile

• 2–6 years of airport operations experience, including 1–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage shift demand and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work in a safety‑sensitive environment with exposure to noise, weather, heavy lifting and moving equipment.

Required skills

• Report‑writing and investigation experience.
