Managing Director (MD) – Construction & Major Projects

About the role

Sumer Hills, part of the Raban Al Safina Group, is seeking a Managing Director to lead its construction and contracting business with full executive responsibility for strategy, financial performance, operations and organisational leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute company strategy, business plans and financial targets, accountable for P&L, sustainable growth and project profitability.
• Lead the senior management team, set clear responsibilities and performance standards, and strengthen organisational capability.
• Direct the overall project portfolio, aligning engineering, procurement, construction, commercial and support functions with company priorities.
• Integrate operational, logistical and administrative planning across multiple sites, allocating people, plant, materials and subcontractors effectively.
• Establish governance for budgets, schedules, risk, quality, health, safety and environment; drive recovery plans for delayed projects.
• Oversee tendering, contract negotiations, variations, claims, cash flow, working capital and payment recovery.
• Lead strategic client and partner relationships, business development and executive reporting.
• Provide executive oversight of architectural quality, luxury fit‑out, interior and exterior finishes and façade systems.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership of a sizeable construction or contracting company with company‑wide accountability.
• Demonstrated responsibility for P&L, commercial decisions, operational performance and organisational leadership.
• Direct experience delivering large‑scale institutional buildings such as schools, hospitals or university campuses.
• Strong multi‑project leadership, prioritisation and decision‑making skills.
• Sound technical understanding of civil, structural, architectural and building services interfaces.
• Expertise in high‑end finishing, luxury fit‑out and façade systems with strong judgment in material selection and vendor evaluation.
