WatHab Generalist Project Officer

About the role

The WatHab Generalist Project Officer provides civil and structural engineering expertise to support forensic services, detention facilities, and hospital emergency departments in Iraq. Based in Baghdad, the role involves regular travel across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structural condition assessments and develop analyses, calculations, designs, and drawings for new construction, extensions, and rehabilitation works.
• Prepare feasibility studies, technical documentation, and tender dossiers, and supervise implementation with contractors to ensure quality and compliance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary technical experts and ICRC support departments to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Perform on‑site quality control of structural works, including setting‑out, reinforcement, formwork inspection, concrete pouring, curing, and material testing.
• Manage handover, commissioning, and training for end‑users of the facilities.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in structural analysis, design, and construction project management.
• Experience with public buildings such as health facilities or places of detention.
• Familiarity with national building codes and permit regulations.
• University degree in Civil Engineering; specialization in Structural Engineering is an asset.

Required skills

• Structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD.Pro or equivalent).
• AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit Structure/BIM is a plus.
• Ability to produce calculation notes and structural drawings complying with applicable codes.
