Lecturer of Law

About the role

The British International University Erbil seeks a full-time Lecturer of Law to deliver high-quality teaching in line with University of London curricula. The role involves lecturing, seminars and tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as supporting their academic development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials in core law subjects.
• Prepare and continuously update course materials and teaching resources.
• Design assessments, grade student work and provide constructive feedback.
• Offer academic advising and hold regular office hours.
• Conduct legal research and contribute to scholarly publications.
• Participate in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
• Support quality-assurance, accreditation activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues on academic projects and foster an inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in law with ability to teach core subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Specialised knowledge of Contract Law, Tort Law, Land Law, Equity and Trusts.
• Expertise in the English legal system and contemporary legal issues.
• Proven experience in higher‑education lecturing, curriculum design and student assessment.
• Research capability with a record of scholarly publications.
• Minimum academic qualification of an LL.M.; Ph.D. or active doctoral candidacy is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills with a commitment to student‑centred learning.
• Familiarity with international or UK‑based legal education frameworks, particularly University of London programmes, is an advantage.
