Laboratory Chemist

About the role

The Laboratory Chemist works full‑time on‑site at MASS Cement Factory in Sulaymaniyah, supporting the production of high‑quality cement. The role involves conducting chemical and physical tests on raw materials, in‑process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on raw, in‑process, and finished cement materials.
• Prepare samples, operate and maintain laboratory instruments, and document test results accurately.
• Communicate findings to production, maintenance, and quality teams.
• Monitor process parameters and support quality‑control activities.
• Conduct instrument calibrations and assist in troubleshooting product or process deviations.
• Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment, and keep precise records.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives within the laboratory and plant environment.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and identify trends.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment, sample preparation, and safe chemical handling.
• Knowledge of quality‑control procedures and standards relevant to cement or related industries.
• Competence in calibrating laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Familiarity with cement manufacturing processes or heavy‑industry environments is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in an on‑site plant setting and follow safety protocols.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and collaborative attitude.
