Lab Analyst – Oil & Gas Production

About the role

The Lab Analyst will support the Production Department of the South Basra Integrated Project on a daily or rotational basis. This position focuses on delivering accurate laboratory analysis, reporting, and technical recommendations to optimise oil, gas and water processes.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with engineering teams to prepare timely, concise reports summarising project findings and recommendations.
• Develop and apply test technology, instrumentation, and test control systems for production quality control.
• Support chemical injection optimisation, crude oil and water quality analysis, and link findings to system reliability.
• Assist in preparing the laboratory’s annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the Halfaya Field.
• Ensure full compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and promote safety awareness among staff.
• Develop national staff through structured training programmes and supervise laboratory personnel.
• Identify out‑of‑spec production issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Support R&D projects and new product delivery in collaboration with platform leaders.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure sample analysis follows ASTM and industry‑approved methods.

Required profile

• Iraqi national with at least 10 years of solid oil & gas laboratory experience.
• Strong engineering background with the ability to interpret and communicate technical data.
• Proven experience in staff development, supervision and HSE compliance.
• Ability to work onsite in Basra on a daily or rotational schedule.
