Senior Water Supply & Drainage Engineer

About the role

Geo-Jade Petroleum is looking for an experienced Senior Water Supply & Drainage Engineer to lead the design, operation and optimisation of water and drainage utilities for its refinery and petrochemical complex in Basra. The role provides senior technical leadership across commissioning, start‑up and steady‑state phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operation, monitoring and technical support of raw‑water intake, potable, de‑mineralised, cooling‑water, fire‑water, sanitary and oily‑water sewerage, industrial wastewater and storm‑water drainage systems.
• Review design basis, hydraulic calculations, water balances, PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, equipment datasheets and vendor packages for pumps, tanks, treatment units, separators, filters and chemical‑dosing systems.
• Coordinate daily utility requirements with refinery, petrochemical, maintenance, HSSE, projects and production planning teams to ensure continuity of supply and prevent flooding or unauthorized discharge.
• Monitor system capacity, pressure, flow, level, water quality, chemical consumption and energy use; analyse deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop operating procedures, start‑up/shutdown instructions, inspection routines and emergency response actions for water and drainage facilities.
• Provide technical input for commissioning, hydro‑testing, performance testing, handover and punch‑list closure of new or modified facilities.
• Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of pump failures, hydraulic constraints, leaks, corrosion, fouling, scaling, biological growth and sewer blockages.
• Review preventive and predictive maintenance plans and recommend inspection, repair or upgrade priorities based on risk and lifecycle cost.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of solid Oil & Gas experience in water supply, treatment and drainage utilities.
• Proven senior technical leadership and ability to coach Iraqi national staff.
• Strong HSSE awareness and experience with HAZOP, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication with internal multidisciplinary teams and external contractors, vendors and regulatory authorities.
