Senior Planner Engineer for Downstream Operations

About the role

The Senior Planner Engineer will develop, maintain and control integrated plans and schedules for downstream operations, maintenance, projects, shutdowns and turnarounds at the South Basra Integrated Project in Iraq. The role supports safe production, resource optimisation and delivery of refinery and petrochemical work within approved priorities, milestones and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Level 1‑4 integrated schedules covering operations, preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, reliability, projects, shutdowns, turnarounds and commissioning.
• Build and manage logic‑linked schedules in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, establishing calendars, WBS, coding, activity logic, milestones, constraints and resource requirements.
• Coordinate planning inputs with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, HSSE, Finance and contractors to ensure realistic, fully‑resourced schedules.
• Analyse critical path, float, interfaces and emerging risks; recommend recovery, acceleration or resequencing actions.
• Prepare short‑, medium‑ and long‑term look‑ahead plans and lead weekly/monthly planning meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of solid Oil & Gas experience, preferably in downstream operations.
• Proven experience developing and controlling integrated schedules for complex industrial environments.
• Strong ability to coach engineers and planners on planning standards, schedule quality and progress measurement.
