Junior Backend Developer

About the role

Baly, Iraq’s leading super‑app, is seeking a Junior Backend Developer to join its engineering team. You will help build, scale, and maintain the core services that power daily rides, food delivery, and other high‑traffic features used by millions of customers, drivers, and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Build scalable, secure, and high‑performance systems.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to store and retrieve application data efficiently.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, product, and operations teams to integrate services.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code.
• Debug, optimise, and improve existing backend components.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and data security.
• Participate in code reviews and promote technical best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Node.js, PHP, or Go.
• Familiarity with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Experience using Git or other version‑control systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
