Irrigation Engineer

About the role

EFS Facilities Services, an integrated facilities management provider, is looking for an experienced Irrigation Engineer to oversee the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of irrigation systems across landscaped areas in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. The engineer ensures efficient water use, healthy landscape development and reliable system performance while meeting project specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, install, operate and maintain irrigation systems, including drip irrigation, sprinklers, pumps, valves, pipelines and controllers.
• Inspect sites to assess needs, find faults and carry out corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor schedules, water consumption and distribution efficiency to optimise water use.
• Supervise irrigation technicians and maintenance teams, ensuring safe and compliant work.
• Troubleshoot failures, leaks, pressure issues, blockages and pump or controller problems.
• Coordinate with landscaping teams and review drawings, layouts, technical specs and material requirements.
• Prepare maintenance schedules, inspection reports, material requisitions and performance records.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field; technical certifications in irrigation, water management or landscaping are an advantage.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in irrigation installation, maintenance and operations; experience in landscaping, facilities management or large-scale irrigation projects is preferred.
• Experience in challenging climates or the Middle East is an advantage.
• Willingness to work on-site in the Sulaymaniyah region, Iraq.
