Horizontal Foreman – Heavy Equipment & Material Handling

About the role

The Horizontal Foreman will be based at the Baghdad Embassy Compound (BEC) Amentum site, supporting the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract for the U.S. Department of State. This position oversees daily material handling and heavy‑equipment operations, ensuring a safe workplace, compliance with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance standards, and timely completion of work requests.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and prioritize safety in all activities.
• Provide oversight of material handling and heavy‑equipment support operations.
• Schedule daily work assignments for a multinational workforce.
• Review work orders to determine safety requirements, permitting, and equipment needs.
• Ensure proper documentation of all work order activity.
• Generate required and ad‑hoc reports and data.
• Order and manage supplies and materials for the department.
• Verify personnel are trained and qualified on equipment.
• Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Required profile

• Minimum two (2) years of experience with horizontal earthwork and material‑handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, semi‑tractor trucks).
• Ability to lift up to 30 lb, bend, stoop, climb, and work in adverse climatic conditions.
• Experience coordinating basic Transportation Movement Requests (TMR).
• Proven ability to work with a multi‑national workforce and produce accurate reports.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and cross‑cultural communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
