Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the role

MANTECH is looking for a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its vehicle sustainment team in Ankawa, Iraq. The role supports the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program, providing maintenance and logistics support for a wide range of vehicle families worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop new applications for electro‑mechanical equipment and systems.
• Review contractor standards and specifications to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
• Repair, design, or review gas and diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation, and instrumentation systems.
• Gather data and perform routine engineering research, calculations, and simple tests to upgrade hardware.
• Guide technicians in fabrication and installation of mechanical equipment to ensure compliance with design and customer specifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of qualified mechanical experience with light/heavy trucks, tactical vehicles, generators, or similar diesel/gasoline equipment.
• Proven maintenance background in industrial manufacturing, commercial or military operations.
• Experience troubleshooting, designing, installing, analyzing, and repairing U.S. systems to component level.
• Valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED, and a passport valid for at least one year.
• U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance.
