Health and Environmental Supervisor

About the role

The Health and Environmental Supervisor will support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) across all SBIPRO operations in Basra, Iraq. Working closely with the HSSE team, the role ensures compliance with Iraqi environmental regulations and company standards while monitoring environmental performance on a daily or rotational basis.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the EMS across all project activities.
• Conduct field‑level environmental inspections, compliance verification, and monitoring of air emissions, wastewater, soil, and groundwater.
• Manage waste handling procedures for hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, including segregation, storage, and disposal.
• Support occupational health programs, pre‑employment medical exams, and industrial hygiene monitoring (noise, dust, heat stress, chemicals).
• Report, investigate, and follow up on environmental incidents and near‑misses, tracking corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain environmental data, monthly reports, and regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of solid Oil & Gas experience in health, safety, environment or related fields.
• Iraqi national preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Iraqi environmental regulations and HSSE standards.
• Proven ability to conduct field inspections and manage compliance gaps.

Required skills

• Environmental monitoring and sampling techniques.
• Waste management procedures (hazardous and non‑hazardous).
• Industrial hygiene monitoring (noise, dust, heat stress, chemicals).
• Incident reporting and root‑cause analysis.
• Data collection, analysis and reporting.
