Health and Environmental Supervisor

About the role

Geo‑Jade Petroleum’s South Basra Integrated Project is looking for an experienced Health and Environmental Supervisor to lead the implementation and compliance of its Environmental Management System across all operations in Basra, Iraq. The role works closely with the HSSE team on a daily or rotational basis to ensure safe and environmentally responsible practices.

Key responsibilities

• Support the rollout and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) throughout the project.
• Conduct field‑level environmental inspections, verify compliance with Iraqi regulations and company HSSE standards, and close out any gaps.
• Execute and oversee environmental monitoring programmes (air emissions, wastewater, soil and groundwater), ensuring proper sampling, documentation and laboratory coordination.
• Monitor waste management procedures for hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, support spill prevention and response, and track emissions, flaring and produced water handling.
• Assist with occupational health surveillance, pre‑employment and periodic medical examinations, and industrial hygiene monitoring (noise, dust, heat stress, chemicals).
• Report and investigate environmental incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Collect field data, prepare monthly environmental performance reports and maintain required documentation.

Required profile

• Iraqi national with at least 10 years of solid experience in the oil & gas sector.
• Strong knowledge of Iraqi environmental legislation and international HSSE standards.
• Proven ability to work on‑site in a demanding environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
