National Climate Change Consultant – Baghdad (3‑month contract)

About the role
The consultancy aims to strengthen Iraq’s climate governance and data systems, expand access to climate finance, and support the establishment and operationalisation of a Climate Information Unit within the Ministry of Environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support the creation and operationalisation of the Climate Information Unit in the Ministry of Environment.
- Provide technical assistance for the NDC water sector action plan and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process.
- Contribute to loss and damage work and prepare Green Climate Fund (GCF) proposals.
- Assist in disaster risk reduction (DRR) programming and develop climate‑related ICT and data platforms.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in environmental science, climate change, water resources management, environmental engineering, data/information management, public policy, economics or related field.
- At least eight years of progressive experience in climate change policy, environmental governance, climate data systems or climate finance.
- Demonstrated experience working with the Government of Iraq, preferably the Ministry of Environment.
- Knowledge of national and international climate frameworks (NDC, NAP, loss and damage, GCF).
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
- Iraqi national.
