Disposal Operator – Waste Management & Equipment Handling

About the role

The Disposal Operator will work at the Amentum Baghdad Embassy Compound supporting the Base Life Support Services contract for the U.S. State Department. The role focuses on safe waste handling, equipment inventory, and disposal operations in a high‑risk, overseas environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace, complying with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Process and reconcile inventory transactions, equipment transfers, and excess documentation for controlled and non‑controlled items.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment, report defects, and assist with scrap metal processing, recycling, and contingency waste removal.
• Operate disposal collection equipment and heavy‑equipment such as forklifts, excavators, front‑end loaders, and material shredders.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in waste management, sanitation, logistics or related fields.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Valid Iraqi driver’s license (if operating company vehicles) and ability to obtain/maintain an RSO security clearance.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg, work outdoors in dusty, noisy conditions and wear required PPE.

Required skills

• Operation of heavy equipment: 30 k forklift, extended‑reach forklift, material handler, grappler (excavator), front‑end loader, material shredders.
• Use of cutting torches, including plasma cutters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for inventory and reporting.
