Head of Trade Marketing

About the role

The Head of Trade Marketing will lead the overall trade marketing strategy and execution across Iraq, driving market penetration, distribution growth and commercial performance for a leading regional FMCG group.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead nationwide trade marketing strategies across multiple FMCG categories and distribution channels.
• Lead and develop a large field organization, including merchandising, promotional and outsourced teams.
• Oversee significant trade CAPEX, including deployment and performance of refrigeration equipment and other in‑market assets.
• Drive channel strategy, distributor execution, trade promotions, merchandising, visibility and in‑store activations across Traditional and Modern Trade.
• Manage trade marketing budgets, investment planning, resource allocation and ROI.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing on new product launches, category development, distribution expansion and market share growth.
• Establish performance KPIs, operational standards and reporting systems to drive field effectiveness.

Required profile

• Extensive FMCG experience with a proven track record in senior trade marketing leadership.
• Demonstrated experience managing large, geographically dispersed trade marketing and field execution teams.
• Strong understanding of the Iraqi FMCG market, distributor networks, Traditional Trade, Modern Trade and wholesale channels.
• Proven experience managing substantial trade marketing budgets, CAPEX and large‑scale market execution.
• Experience overseeing trade assets, preferably refrigeration equipment or other significant retail infrastructure.
• Exposure to multiple FMCG categories, preferably food, dairy, beverages, frozen foods or confectionery.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and people leadership.
