General Services Assistant Digitization Technician

About the role

The Digitization Technician will support the US Embassy in Baghdad and the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) in preserving valuable collections through digitization. Reporting to the on‑site Project Manager, the role combines technical expertise with best‑practice documentation to ensure high‑quality digital archives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with US Embassy Baghdad and CLIR to digitize collections for long‑term preservation.
• Apply document conservation methodology and set up professional camera equipment with correct parameters.
• Provide practical training on photo documentation, photo editing, and handling of manuscripts and archival materials.
• Manage data workflows, including data management, storage, and preservation practices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment, scanners, and computer hardware used in the digitization process.

Required profile

• Strong aptitude for learning and adapting to various hardware and software tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency with multiple operating systems and standard office applications.
