Firefighter Crew Chief

About the role

The Firefighter Crew Chief leads an aircraft or structural firefighting crew at a U.S. Army installation in Iraq, ensuring safe and effective fire protection operations in accordance with the LOGCAP contract and Vectrus directives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise crew members during fire ground incidents, directing fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue activities.
• Maintain and inspect fire apparatus, equipment, SCBA, rescue tools, ladders, hoses, and protective clothing to meet Performance Work Standard (PWS) requirements.
• Prepare and update pre‑fire plans for aircraft and facilities, and ensure compliance with AR 420‑1, NFPA guidelines, and local work instructions.
• Submit required CDRL deliverables, reports, and logs within established timeframes.
• Provide emergency medical care, CPR, and assist in fire investigations while preserving evidence.
• Conduct and participate in training programs to improve crew proficiency and technical knowledge.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising aircraft or structural firefighting crews, preferably in a military or contract environment.
• Familiarity with Army fire protection regulations (AR 420‑1) and NFPA standards.
• Ability to develop and maintain fire‑prevention plans and conduct equipment inspections.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting skills.
