Firefighter Crew Chief

About the role

The Firefighter Crew Chief leads an aircraft or structural firefighting crew on a rotating shift at a U.S. Army installation in Iraq. Reporting to the Assistant Chief of Operations, the role ensures fire protection services meet all contractual and regulatory standards while safeguarding lives, property, and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a firefighting crew during fire ground operations, including attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation, and rescue.
• Maintain and inspect fire apparatus, equipment, and protective gear in accordance with the Performance Work Standard (PWS) and NFPA guidelines.
• Prepare, update, and implement pre‑fire plans for aircraft and facilities.
• Ensure timely submission of required reports, deliverables, and CDRL items.
• Conduct emergency medical care, CPR, and fire scene evidence preservation.
• Lead investigations of fire incidents and maintain accurate station logs and records.
• Provide training and proficiency programs for crew members.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising aircraft or structural firefighting crews.
• Familiarity with AR 420‑1, Army Facilities Management, NFPA standards, and local fire protection regulations.
• Ability to develop and update fire plans and conduct equipment inspections.
• Strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures and SCBA operation.
