Firearms Instructor – Training & Operations Specialist

About the role

The Firearms Instructor will deliver safe, compliant, and high‑quality firearms training for a range of students. Working within the Training & Operations department, you will oversee classroom instruction, live‑fire range sessions, and equipment maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and live‑fire training on weapon handling, marksmanship, maintenance, tactical movement and defensive shooting.
• Enforce strict range safety rules, inspect weapons and ammunition, and take corrective action for violations.
• Develop, update and improve lesson plans, assess student performance, and issue certifications.
• Maintain and inventory training weapons, manage ammunition stock, and set up/tear down range targets and barriers.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of military, law‑enforcement or private‑security experience with proven range‑management safety record.
• Active, verifiable certifications: NRA or equivalent firearms instructor, Range Safety Officer, and emergency medical (CPR/AED/First Aid, TCCC or WFR).
• High emotional intelligence, patience with beginners, and strong situational awareness under stress.

Required skills

• Pistols, rifles and shotguns proficiency.
• Ballistics knowledge and optics zeroing.
• Malfunction clearing and weapon maintenance.
• Range safety procedures and firearm‑law compliance.
• Use‑of‑force policy expertise.
• Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Wilderness First Responder skills.
