Electrician Journeyman Lead

About the role

V2X, a global mission-support company, is hiring an Electrician Journeyman Lead in Balad, Iraq, working under the supervision of an Electrical Supervisor. The role covers the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, operation and maintenance of electrical systems and components of power distribution and generating equipment, including keeping power to telecommunications equipment running and maintaining the facility's electrical distribution system.

Key responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, operate and maintain electrical systems and components of power distribution and generating equipment.
• Maintain power to telecommunications equipment and keep the facility's electrical distribution system in good repair.
• Perform electrical installations in commercial and industrial categories.
• Comply with NEC 2008 for repairs and upgrades to existing construction, NEC 2011 for new construction and contract specifications, and MIL Standards/Regulations.
• Comply with British Standards, BS 7671.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a host country driver's license.
• Preferably holds a Journeyman Electrician license or host nation equivalent.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in the electrical wiring industry, including planning, laying out and installing electrical distribution systems in line with the NEC and BS 7671, under the direct supervision of a qualifying electrician for a licensed electrical contractor.
• Able to work in extreme heat, including desert environments with temperatures up to 130 F in summer, and in indoor and outdoor settings with adverse conditions.
• Medium physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently, and wearing PPE where required.
