Drilling Engineer

About the role

Fisher HR is recruiting a Drilling Engineer for an onshore oilfield project in Basrah, Iraq. The engineer provides engineering support for the planning, preparation and execution of drilling campaigns and works closely with drilling superintendents, drilling fluids teams, contractors and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, preparation and execution of onshore drilling campaigns
• Contribute to Call for Tender (CFT) processes, including technical specifications, requirement clarification and evaluation of contractor proposals
• Help prepare drilling campaigns, including Basis of Design documents
• Prepare and update drilling programs, standard operating procedures and contingency plans
• Monitor drilling operations, technical performance, reporting and daily costs
• Support contract management and ensure technical requirements are met
• Take part in Management of Change (MoC) processes and continuous improvement
• Support well integrity assessments and incident investigations when needed
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, technical requirements and industry best practice, and support technical derogation requests
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, operational efficiency and emissions reduction
• Deliver wells on schedule, within budget and to technical requirements

Required profile

• Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent professional experience
• At least 3 years of experience in drilling engineering services
• Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Control certification
• Experience in technical tender evaluations, contractor coordination and drilling campaign preparation
• Knowledge of HSE requirements, well integrity principles and operational risk management
• Willingness to work a rotational schedule of four weeks on and four weeks off in an onshore oilfield environment
