Director of People & Culture

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Director of People & Culture to lead the human resources function of our hotel in Baghdad. In this senior leadership position you will shape HR strategy, foster an inclusive culture and align people initiatives with the hotel’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and standards in line with Iraqi labor law and industry best practices.
• Lead talent acquisition, recruitment, interviewing and assessment for all levels.
• Design competitive compensation and benefits programs and oversee payroll administration.
• Manage performance reviews, coaching and employee development initiatives.
• Create succession plans for middle‑ and senior‑management positions.
• Drive employee engagement, recognition programmes and workplace culture activities.
• Handle employee relations, grievance resolution and disciplinary processes with transparency.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and occupational regulations specific to Baghdad.
• Prepare and monitor HR budgets, forecasts and talent‑culture metrics.
• Participate in executive meetings, contribute to strategic planning and act as an internal HR consultant.
• Lead and develop the HR team while maintaining strict confidentiality on sensitive matters.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably in hospitality.
• Deep knowledge of Iraqi labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Strong ability to partner with executive leadership and influence business outcomes.
• Excellent communication, coaching and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on talent development and organizational excellence.
